what people say

“Since joining some 9 or 10 Months ago, I have learned so much and become far more interested in all aspects of acting including Stage, TV, and Film, the tutors at The Actors Lab are professionals, founders “Sue Jenkins”, and “David Fleeshman” have a wealth of experience in Film, TV, Stage, producing and Directing. They bring in other experts for training in things such as Stage Combat with Kaitlin Howard and Chris Honer of the Library Theatre has taken classes. Jen Hennessy, Star of “The Office” and “Two pints of Lager & a packet of crisps” and Roberta Kerr who was in “Coronation Street” as “Wendy Crozier” have also taken workshops. I sometimes feel spoilt with the treatment we get! The students are a great bunch and some have become good friends as well as developing into great talented actors. I now am on Spotlight and have worked professionally on TV, in stage productions and Showcases. I look forward to my classes every week and hope to one day be a full time actor with their help. A special mention to another family member Emily Fleeshman who is the CEO and without whom the SMOOTH running of The Actors lab would be almost impossible. “

“I just want to say how much fun I have had already, I have learnt so much! I have been going to drama groups and acting classes for years, but I have to say, The Actors’ Lab has been my favourite”

“Fast becoming the highlight of the week! Great fun, brilliant opportunity for all involved, and have greatly enjoyed working with so many lovely like minded people”

“It is now such a great part of my week, and for me personally it has been a great education into drama and the different techniques actors use, but the most important benefit for me has been how it wakes up the parts of your head that you never use or thought you would use again. Most of my head was like a closed down disused fairground with covers over all the rides , but now the lights are back on ,the big wheel is turning ,the carousel is spinning and the music is playing again thanks to all at ‘The Actors’ Lab’

“Just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone at The Actors’ Lab. Words can’t express the gratitude I feel when I think about what you have done. I really appreciate all that you’ve provided me. I truly enjoy the wide variety of classes every single week. I feel the classes have made me progress and grow as a person too. Your professionalism and advice is spot on. I have never done acting before, probably the last time I did any acting was in my school production playing the dog Toto in the Wizard of Oz. I had no real aspirations to be an actress but since joining this class I have belief in myself and feel I want to take it a little further. When I think back to the first class I did to how I have developed it is amazing. Initially I felt it would be a scary situation for me, but with a fun and welcoming environment I was instantly put as ease. Since joining I feel I have gained a whole new group of friends.”

“The Actors’ Lab is right up my alley. Having had no formal training and with a family who take up most of my time, I was so excited to find something that would not only provide quality teaching, but at a time to suit. And I have not been disappointed! In the weeks I have been a member, I have learnt loads in a place I feel welcome and encouraged. It has meant I have had a chance to learn and be challenged with new ideas and skills. Whether you are new to the game or been playing at it for donkeys, you will benefit. Newies like me are catered for while the more experienced get to sharpen their skills.”

“I would recommend The Actors’ Lab to anyone. As a complete novice, I find myself gaining in confidence every week, this is all down to the guidance & encouragement I receive from The Actors’ Lab teachers and my fellow members. I have learnt so much in such a short period of time and would encourage anyone, whatever their age to join”  Vicky Boylan via Facebook

“The Actors’ Lab is very different to any other drama class in the area, as its tutors and guest tutors are seasoned professionals who are still very active in the business. And what professionals they are! There is also a very personal feeling to the classes, and David and Sue go the extra mile for you. I had an audition for a film, and I asked them for some help and guidance. Sue chose a monologue for me, gave me two extra one-on-one sessions, and I got the part!”

“Finally! An acting class that does what it says on the tin! Since starting at The Actors’ Lab I have regained my confidence through the tutoring of Sue and David, as well as all the other professionals, and my fellow students. Everyone in the class is approachable and encouraging, and there is never any fear of looking or feeling silly! The Actors’ Lab has given me the courage to follow a career route I had previously given up on.”
Ylan Mackay via Facebook

“I love the fact that we do many and varied things each week from genres to stage fighting, devising to working on monologues and scenes and I love the fact that the workshops are full of people who are committed and that we are working with professionals in the industry. There is such a positive and supportive energy. As a professional actress too I know it is important to” keep the blood flowing” as it were! I would highly recommend the workshops to everyone with a love of acting full stop.”
