Date: Saturday 13th/Sunday 14th July, 2019
Venue: The Greenhouse, Media City
Both Days: £120
Over from the States for one weekend only, this is not one to be missed! Markus Flanagan has been a successful actor for 30+ years in LA and NYC, appearing in over 135 episodes, 10 feature films, 5 movies of the week as well as numerous stage plays. Most notable roles have included, FRIENDS, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Unfabulous, CSI, CSI Miami, NCIS, Major Crimes, Bones, Will and Grace, Seinfeld, Supernatural, Veronica’s Closet, and many others.
He is the author of ‘One Less Bitter Actor’ – the new actor’s survival guide’. This mentoring guide has become a staple for actors in America, and he has lectured at acting programs all over the USA.
Markus studied with Sanford Meisner at The Neighbourhood Playhouse, and has been teaching the technique for the last 15 years.
You will be given a Meisner technique overview with clear explanations and demonstrations. You will see how Meisner arrived at his definition that acting is living truthfully under the imaginary circumstances.
You will be filmed doing TV/Film and commercial auditions. These LA styled auditions will then be played back and notes will be given, as you look on to see exactly how a casting team will look at your auditions. You will also go over the many lessons Markus has learned during his career in TV and film such as:
The two things that every actor must have to build a career
How to handle deadly questions at auditions
When insecurity is useful and where it is destructive
Why being new isn’t a bad thing
What makes some people artists, and others just enthusiasts
Why auditioning is the opposite of acting
Please note: The intent of the workshop is educational and should not be considered a job interview or audition.
