Creating and producing your own work for fringe theatre and beyond
About the session
In this two hour work shop/Q&A, you will be given a basic toolkit with which to create and produce your own work for fringe theatre and beyond. You will learn basic management and scheduling techniques, key marketing strategies, and useful tips on content creation and networking opportunities. You will also have to chance to ask key questions which relate to your own personal queries and needs.
Alex Slater is an actor, producer, writer, director and events organiser from Manchester. He graduated from The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts in 2014 and shortly after formed his first theatre company. The company’s debut show enjoyed a sell out run at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, whilst their second saw them compete in the finals of various national comedy competitions, and support nationally renowned comedians. In 2018, alongside Rosie Fleeshman, Alex founded Nothing To Declare Productions. Their debut show ‘Narcissist In The Mirror’, enjoyed a sold out run at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, won multiple nationally recognised awards, and has since been optioned for television following a 61 date national tour. As an events organiser, Alex has been involved in the inception of music festivals, comedy fundraisers, charity balls and now co-runs and hosts Manchester’s best attended spoken word night – SPEAK.
